Old News, Announcements and Administrivia
Mar. 8 - Lab 7 and Assignment 2 have been posted.
Mar. 4 - The midterms will be returned in tomorrow's lecture, and the solutions will be presented.
Feb. 28 - As announced in class, the midterm will run from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. tomorrow (Friday). My understanding of the academic regulations relating to tests during the term is that, because the midterm is not a practical lab exam, it must be the same length as if it were written during one of the lectures; i.e., it must be written within a 90-minute block of time.
Feb. 25 - Welcome back from Break Week.
Feb. 15 - Lab 6 has been posted. The deadline for submitting your jar file has been extended until 12 noon today.
Feb. 11 - to clarify my previous announcement: if we are able to shift the lectures in the morning, they would start at 9, 9:30, or 10, and run for 1.5 hours; i.e., 9-10:30, 9:30 - 11, or 10 - 11:30. Currently, the majority of those students who have contacted me prefer 9:30 - 11:00, which would give you a half-hour break before your MATH 1005 lecture. Nothing definite yet - I have to confirm that we can have 508AA at that time, twice a week. Stay tuned...
Feb 8. - Important announcements:
Assignment 1 deadline: A few students have informed me that the majority of you have several tests, assignment deadlines, etc. between now and the Winter Break. As such, I'm extending the deadline for Assignment 1 until Tuesday, February 19 at 11:59:59 p.m. That said, I recommend that you try to complete at least Iteration 3, and preferably Iteration 4, by next Monday (Feb. 11). The amount of code you have to write is not overwhelmingly large, but you do have to take time to review your work as you complete each iteration, assessing its quality (coupling, cohesion, use of RDD, etc.) It will be more difficult to deliver a high-quality game if you try to do most of the development in a major hacking session on the 18th!
Moving the lecture times? I'm getting tired of the two-hour-plus commutes during stormy weather, and I'm aware that many of you find your Tuesday and Thursday schedules incredibly long (especially if you have to head for the bus at 7:00 or earlier). So, I'd like to explore the possibility of shifting the SYSC 1101 lectures to later in the day. 508AA appears to be available all morning on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and in the afternoon on Thursdays. Can you let me know, via email, if you are able to attend class at the following times:

Jan. 30 - Assignment 1 has been posted.
