Ask the Coach
Dear
Coach: How
can I compare my times with those I’ve done in previous years, or versus someone
of a different age / gender. Just
Curious
Dear J.
Curious: Well, while it’s probably best to compare yourself with yourself,
here are a few web sites that might help. The myMSC rankings page
(http://mymsc.ca/EventResults.jsp)
shows how far away from the National / Provincial records a time is, as well as
the overall ranking. Another site, http://www.vaswim.org/cgi-bin/rcalc.cgi,
allows you to compare times across age groups and genders. It is done by
fitting a theoretical record curve to the FINA Masters world
records.
