Plenary Talk for DEVS TMS 2013, 1:30 pm, Monday, April 8th

Commercial DEVS-based Software Environment and EcoSystem for Modeling and Simulation

Abstract: Discrete Event System Specification (DEVS) has been supported in a variety of programming implementations for academic domain and particular types of systems. Yet, there is a strong need for a general commercial development platform and environment as DEVS is being steadily adopted by industries and governments world-wide. The MS4 Me is a new commercial integrated software development environment that can accelerate development of DEVS models in a generic manner which also eliminates some of the challenges for model developers in learning new concepts and simplifies dealing with a large number of different artifacts. In this talk, we present an overview of MS4 Me toolsets and Cloud-based Model Store to support a comprehensive M&S ecosystem environment to share and distribute models for efficient collaboration among model developers and general users. We will discuss the features of MS4 Me toolsets introduced to facilitate industry-wide adoption of DEVS. We conclude with some ideas on how DEVS-based commercial platforms provide solutions for Systems of Systems which include complex information-technology-based business, engineering, and education systems.
