Abstract
Large-scale simulations provide the means to study large, closely coupled electric-ship systems, for which traditional analysis techniques are ineffective. But simulations are inherently anecdotal, in that a simulation tells only what the system will do under a specific set of conditions. Ship designers and operators need more, particularly if the simulation model serves as the system specification. Designers and operators must be able to get a comprehensive understanding of ship behavior through system simulations. We describe briefly a number of techniques for reaching such an understanding and discuss example applications of two of them.
