- Your smartphone must have a recent Android OS version starting from KitKat and above.
- Your smartphone must be equipped with a gyroscope - to verify compatibility, go to the Google Play store and search for the Cardboard app by Google Inc.; Google Play will indicate whether your device is compatible or not. Note: you don't need to download the Cardboard app.
- You will need 3D virtual reality glasses such as the Google Cardboard - you can borrow one from the department's main office (ME 4456), use your own (available from the Google store and many other retailers), or even build your own (see for example on Instructables)!
- First, in Settings/Security, enable "Unknown Sources - Allow installation of apps from unknown sources", as the app isn't registered with Google Play. Note: it is recommended that you disable the option right after installing this app to keep your smartphone protected!
- Click the download link (on your smartphone) or scan the QR code below with your smartphone to download the app.
- Make sure your smartphone is in landscape orientation before you start the app.
- Start the app and install your smartphone into the Google Cardboard. Make sure to secure it so that it doesn't fall off...
Enjoy!
