Dear Carleton Masters Swimmers,

As you are aware, Carleton University reinstated the varsity swim program and we are currently working on a formal partnership with the ROC Swimming Club to develop and deliver a high performance varsity swim program.

As you know, one of the key elements to developing a high performance program is access to adequate facilities to train and compete.  In reviewing the facility schedule that has been established for a number of years, we are proposing the following:

From September 2007 to March 2008:

Mondays:
The Masters Whitecaps time be moved to 7:40 PM - 8:50 PM (whole pool). The Varsity Swim and Men's Water Polo programs would be moved to the 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM time slot (shallow / deep).

This change to the traditional schedule would assist both water polo and swimming in fostering high performance development, in particular as the varsity swimmers have an early morning practice on Tuesdays (6:00 AM).   It also allows provides the student-athletes more time to due their academic studies in the evenings.

We understand that many of you lobbied on behalf of this program to have it reinstated and we appreciate your support as this resulted in the recognition by the University of the importance of university sport to our community.

We would like to collect feedback on this proposal by Friday, June 22nd .  We hope to have a final Fall program schedule by the end of June.

Please forward your feedback to Steve Baird (Manager, Aquatics & Children's Programs) at: steve_baird@carleton.ca

Thank you very much for considering this proposal.
