Updates:
Elizabeth Parsons (x-Nightcaps) reports that her third
child, Edward, was born on Feb 15th. He was 12 days early and a
whopping 10lbs 6oz. Brother Stephen and sister Isabelle
are happy with their new brother, but they think he cries a lot (he
doesn't).
Congratulations to
March Break week (March 10-14th) was a dangerous one for Carleton
swimmers and their teeth! That’s the week that Coach
Mits
Kachi had to undergo
emergency dental surgery due to an abscessed tooth and infection. He was
out of commission for a few days due to the strong pain killers prescribed.
The same week Chris
Kent (8:30am
Earlybirds) had a cracked tooth that got infected. The infection spread
quite a lot before he was put on antibiotics, so he was quite ill and then, to
add insult to injury, he had an allergic reaction to penicillin. He was
finally able to get back in the pool on Fri Mar
28th.
Rob Trimbee (6:30 & 7:30am Earlybirds)
is the National Broadcast Reading Service (NBRS) President (see: http://www.nbrscanada.com). NBRS has
two divisions, VoicePrint and AudioVision. VoicePrint

Information
Thanks to Blake Christie for coaching for Mits on Thu
Mar 13th and Sat Mar 15th. Mits was out of
commission due to having to undergo emergency dental
surgery.
Congrats to those Earlybirds and
Whitecaps “A” who recently did time trials: 2 x 100 on Tue/Wed Mar
25/26th.
A few of you have asked what other
time trials are planned for Earlybirds and Whitecaps “A” this term, so here’s
the scoop:
1500/800: Tue/Wed Apr
1/2nd (this is for all groups, including Whitecaps “B” and
Nightcaps)
200 or 400: Thu/Fri Apr 10/11th
Relays: (4x50 free and medley
relays) Thu/Fri Apr 17/18th
Here are the latest weekday
attendance statistics. Those with perfect attendance for the session will
receive a certificate. There are now just 2 swimmers with perfect weekday attendance
since January, and another 3 with
perfect attendance for the 6:30am group that started Feb
25th.
Note that the bad weather is no
longer an excuse for not being able to get to the pool – we hope to see more of
you at workouts for the last three weeks of the
session!!

Dear

Swimmer
Dear N. Swimmer: First, I
recommend a swim suit made of long lasting polyester (as opposed to lycra).
Polyester suits will last about a year of daily wear, compared to about
two months for lycra. To prolong the life of your suit, rinse it in fresh
water after practice. You can also buy special soap to remove the chlorine
(though I’ve never used that myself). Similarly, you should rinse your cap
and goggles after workout. Latex caps will last longer if you dry them and
sprinkle a bit of baby powder inside.
