Limited showers will be available as follows (only those near the pool are listed here):

Women: Alternate Needs and Women’s Instructor rooms (2120 and 2122) – accessible from the pool deck.

Men: Varsity Team Rooms (1160, 1164, 1164C) – accessible from the bottom of the stairs just off the pool deck.

In addition, temporary showers on the pool deck for rinsing may be available.

During this time (May 5-23rd), to avoid congestion in the showers, the following will be in effect:

- only members will have access to the facilities

- adjustments to the pool swim schedule have been made, including:

     - the late evening swims are cancelled

     - the weekend afternoon swims are shortened (3-5pm only)

Race Results: (Please send in your results!!)

Sat Mar 15th Dollard-Des-Ormeaux St Patrick’s Swim Meet

Lynn was the only Carleton swimmer.  Official results are still not posted, but I have my times and places:

Lynn Marshall (Coach, 45-49): 1st 50fs (29.46), 100fs (1:02.36), 1500fs (17:53.81), 100fl (1:09.17 Canadian & Club Record), 200IM (2:35.01)

Sun Mar 30th Around the Bay 30km Road Race, Hamilton (4485 participants)

Congrats to Gord on his good result in this early season race!  Full results at: http://www.sportstats.ca

Gord Larose (7:30am Earlybirds, 50-54): 1541st overall, 1145th man, and 157th in his age group in 2:45:06.5 (2:43.35.9)

Sat Apr 12th Technosport Swim Meet (Ottawa U)

Lynn was the only Carleton swimmer, but Bill Westcott (Whitecaps “A”) was also there swimming for Nepean Masters.  (Bill coaches the morning workouts for Nepean Masters.)  Very good job by Bill for his first meet in quite a few years!  The meet went by very quickly, so we didn’t have much rest between events (especially as I swam 400IM and 400fs in the same event [heats 1 & 4])!  Official results likely won’t be available for some time, but here’s a summary with unofficial times:

Bill Westcott (Whitecaps “A”, 45-49): 200IM (2:41.9), 50br (37.7), 50fl (31.7 – same as his 50fl in his IM!)

Lynn Marshall (Coach, 45-49): 400IM (5:25.91), 400fs (4:34.27), 50fs (28.86 Ontario & Club Record), 100br (1:29.30), 100IM (1:14.35)

Ask the Coach

Dear Coach:  Will there be any $3 workouts offered between the Winter and Spring sessions?  Want to Swim

Dear W.t. Swim:  There will be no water in the pool, so there will be no interim workouts offered!!

Dear Coach:  Do you have any recommendations as to where I can swim during the pool shutdown?  Keen Swimmer

Dear K. Swimmer:  Good (as in cool-ish water, adult swim times) city pools include Champagne, Plant, and Brewer.  Check out the schedules at: http://www.ottawa.ca/residents/parks_recreation/swimming/schedules/index_en.html.  Ottawa U also has pretty good public swim times, but their schedule changes after April 27th, so ensure that you have the current schedule: http://www.geegees.ca/assets/geegeereg/swimming/fall_winter.pdf
