Last Call!  MSO Registration for 2003 and Swim Suit Orders
If you want to compete in Masters swim meets in 2003, and have not yet registered with MSO (Masters Swimming Ontario), please let me know via e-mail and get your $25 (cash or cheque) to me as quickly as possible. 
 
Also, if you want to purchase swim suits at a 25% discount as part of the club order (we do not have enough interest at this time for T-shirts) and have not yet given me your information (see last newsletter for full details), please do so now, so that we can get the order in.  The list of orders to date is at: http://carletonmaste= rs.tripod.com/suits.txtPlease check your order for correctness, and let me know if you find any errors.  If your size or any other information is missing, or if you have not yet confirmed your order ("y" in far right column), please e-mail me. 
 
 
End of Fall Session and $2/$3 Workouts over the Holidays
The last Earlybirds workouts in the fall session are on Wednesday, December 18th.
The last Whitecaps/Nightcaps workouts are on Thursday, December 19th.
 
We *are* going ahead with all of the proposed holiday workouts (list below).  If you're in town and available, please make an effort to attend. 
Friday, December 20th 7:30-8:30am; cost: $2
Saturday, December 21st 5-7pm (combined with Varsity Team); cost: $3 (no charge for High Intensity pm swimmers)
Monday, December 23rd 3:30-5:30pm (combined with Varsity Team); cost: $3 (no charge for High Intensity swimmers)
Friday, December 27th 3:30-5pm; cost: $3
Saturday, December 28th 10:15-11:45am; cost: $3
Monday, December 30th 3:30-5pm; cost: $3
Note that the Carleton pool is closed Dec 24-26th, Dec 31st and Jan 1st.  There is just one public swim per day on Dec 22-23rd, and Dec 27-30th: 11:45am-3:30pm.  Up until Saturday, December 21st (inclusive) and from Thursday, January 2nd (inclusive) the pool is open normal hours.
 
 
Please Register Now for the Winter Session
Registration for the Winter session has started.  There is still room in all groups.  In addition to being able to register in person or over the phone, you will be able to register on-line if you have a Visa card (MasterCard to be added soon).  Go to: http://www.carleton.ca/athletics/programs/index.html and click on "Register Here" to register on-line.  You can also check on-line as to how many spaces are left in each program.  Full details on the programs is available is on the club website (http://carletonmasters.tripod.com).  For Whitecaps and Nightcaps the Winter session starts on Thursday, January 2nd, 2003.  For the 7:30am and 8:30am Earlybirds the Winter session starts on Friday, January 3rd, 2003.  The Very Earlybirds (6:30am) starts on Wednesday, February 26th, 2003.  The High Intensity programs continue in January (you do not need to re-register) starting on Monday, January 6th, 2003.
 
 
Swimmer Notes
 
Christmas Party:  The Masters Party hosted by Joanie Conrad, Don Wells, Sam and Ben on Saturday, December 7th went very well.  As usual, there was almost no food left over!  Don reports that they have acquired an extra serving fork.  If it's yours, please let me know.
 
Swim Caps: Thanks to Jim Y (Whitecaps) for bringing in a bag of latex bathing caps.  We are selling them for $1 each with proceeds going to the club.  Ask Lynn if you'd like one/some -- there are a few left.
 
Nose Clips: Lynn is selling Laxto nose clips for $5, with the 70c profit going to the club. 
 
 
Fall Session Notes
 
In this part of the newsletter, we report on the weekday attendance statistics, and also let you know of anything special happening in the workouts.  If you have any questions/suggestions, please talk to your coach or to me directly. 
 
The time trials will end on Monday/Tuesday, with most coaches planning a fun set or relays for the last day of the session (Wednesday/Thursday).  A full report on all the time trials will be in the next newsletter.

Meet and Race Results: (Please let me know if I've missed anyone or any events.)
Three Carleton Masters swimmers competed in the Technosport distance meet on Sat Dec 7th.  Warren (Varsity) swam 400fs, Judy O (Varsity) swam 800fs, and Nadja (7:30am Earlybirds) swam 1500fs.  More details on this meet and the two November meets once the results are available.

Dear Coach:  I didn't sign up for the $2/$3 workouts over the holidays, but would like to attend.  Is that possible?  Too Much Christmas Dinner

Private and Semi-Private Masters Lessons

Prices for private lessons for Carleton Members are $35 for 1 hour, $65 for 2, $90 for 3, $112 for 4 and $132 for 5 hours, all plus GST.  Private lessons are also available to non-Members at a higher cost ($50, $85, $115, $142 and $162, all plus GST, for 1-5 hours, respectively). 

For those who want to take semi-private lessons (2-3 students), the cost per student for Carleton Members is $21 for 1 hour, $39 for 2, $54 for 3, $67.20 for 4, and $79.20 for 5 hours, all plus GST.  Semi-private lessons for non-Members cost (per student) $30 for 1 hour, $51 for 2, $69 for 3, $85.20 for 4, and $97.20 for 5 hours, all plus GST.

Private lesson times for Fall/Winter are: 4-5pm Monday, and 7:15-8pm Tuesday/Thursday.  Prices may increase slightly.

Reminders
 
Newsletter: An e-newsletter (like this one) is sent out about every two weeks.  If you have new lane-mates, please mention to them that they should give their e-mail address to their coach if they'd like to receive it.
 
Suggestions for Workouts or Interested in Making up a Workout or a Set?: If you have suggestions for the workouts (something you like that we never do, or something you dislike that we do too much!), or if you'd like to try making up a workout or a set in a workout, just talk to your coach. 

Interested in Copies of the Workouts?: Are you interested in getting copies of the Earlybird Masters workouts ahead of time?  Let me know.  I usually e-mail out the week's workouts (Wednesday through Monday) on Sunday.
