Note:  I'll be away next weekend, so here's a short interim newsletter.

Program Dates
Note that the High Intensity program ends on Monday, February 17th.  The Very Earlybirds (6:30-7:30am MWF plus 8-9am or 9-10am Sat) starts on Wednesday, February 26th.  The workouts for all other Masters groups continue as usual during Carleton's reading week (Feb 17-21st).  Public swims are also held at the usual times during this period (ask for a list).

Swim Suit Order
Just four more suits have arrived -- there are 11 that we are still waiting for  (estimate 2 weeks plus).  Thanks for your patience.  As some swimmers are regretting not having ordered suits this time, we'll do another order in March.

Winter Session
The winter session has started, except for the Very Earlybirds (6:30am group) that starts Wed Feb 26th after the Varsity season ends.  The High Intensity, 7:30am Earlybirds, and the Child Safety Supervision groups are full.  There is room to register in the other groups (Very Earlybirds, 8:30am Earlybirds, 6pm Whitecaps and 8pm Nightcaps).  If you plan to switch to the 6:30am Very Earlybirds group when it starts up, please ensure that the office is aware of your intentions so that numbers can be correctly tracked.

In addition to being able to register in person or over the phone (520-4480), you can register on-line if you have a Visa or MasterCard.  Go to: http://www.carleton.ca/athletics/programs/index.html and click on "Register Here" to register on-line.  Full details on the programs is available is on the club website (http://carletonmasters.tripod.com).

Ask the Coach

Update on Long Distance IM Workout Theme:  In the past week I've had three e-mails from swimmers who like the long distance IM workouts, one request for slightly easier pace times for IM, and no other e-mails asking that long distance IM be discontinued.  In addition, two swimmers in the 7:30am group voluntarily did an 800IM on Mon Feb 10th -- kudos to Mike B and Mike S!  Thus, for now, we'll keep the long distance IM theme.  Remember to let your coach know if your pace times and/or set are not working out for your lane.

Private and Semi-Private Masters Lessons

Prices for private lessons for Carleton Members are $35 for 1 hour, $65 for 2, $90 for 3, $112 for 4 and $132 for 5 hours, all plus GST.  Private lessons are also available to non-Members at a higher cost ($50, $85, $115, $142 and $162, all plus GST, for 1-5 hours, respectively).

For those who want to take semi-private lessons (2-3 students), the cost per student for Carleton Members is $21 for 1 hour, $39 for 2, $54 for 3, $67.20 for 4, and $79.20 for 5 hours, all plus GST.  Semi-private lessons for non-Members cost (per student) $30 for 1 hour, $51 for 2, $69 for 3, $85.20 for 4, and $97.20 for 5 hours, all plus GST.

Private lesson times for Fall/Winter are: 4-5pm Monday, and 7:15-8pm Tuesday/Thursday.

Contact Lynn for details/availability (times are available in March).
