Race Results: (Please let me know if I've missed anyone or any events.)

October Canadian Water Polo Championships
Congratulations to Rob K and Jean-Francois (Summer 7:30am Earlybirds) as well as Stefan (last year High Intensity) for being part of the team that won the 2003 Canadian National Cadet Water Polo Championships!  This is the first time in 22 years that an Ottawa team has had this honour!

Sat Nov 8th NCRA 10K Cookie Run
Julie S (7:30am Earlybirds) completed this race in a PB of 52:21 placing 5th in the 40-49 age group!  Congratulations, Julie!

Sun Nov 9th Ironman Florida
Congratulations to Rudy (7:30am Earlybirds) who completed this gruelling event in 812th place in 11:48:55.

Sun Nov 16th Kingston Masters Meet
George and Jose (Whitecaps) attended this meet.  George hopes that more people will attend this meet next year.  Here's Jose's report:
"To borrow a page from Paul Martin’s play book; we under promised and then we over delivered.
George and I busted every single one of our advertised times, i.e. seed times. Unlike George though, I was consistently last in my age group.
In summary, the Kingston Master’s Swim Meet was a phenomenal success. Well organized, high tech facilities AND lots of food after the event. They even had door prizes, where, yours truly, won a fancy pair of swim goggles.
Kudos to the organizers!"

Sat Nov 22nd Technosport Sprint Meet
Francois (7:30am Earlybirds and 7:30am High Intensity), Mike R (6am High Intensity), Mits (Whitecaps Coach), George, Jose, and Kevin N (all Whitecaps) participated in this meet.  No official results yet, but I hear that everyone swam well and that at least 3 club records were broken: Mike R (25-29 100br in 1:13), and Francois (45-49 200br 2:54 and 400fs in 5:16).

Ask the Coach

Dear Coach:  Any suggestions on where to buy flippers?  I Want Bigger Feet

Dear I.W.B. Feet: Check out the Diffusion Aquasport catalog posted on the Masters bulletin board at the pool.

Dear Coach: When I work on distance per stroke in freestyle, my body roll increases.  Is that ok?  DPS-er

Dear DPS-er: The body roll in freestyle should be quite pronounced.  Your belly button should go from facing one side wall to the other on each stroke.  Thus, if working on dps increases your roll, that's a good thing!
